An assembly fee is applied at the final checkout of our bikes that are assembled in our shop and sold as fully ride ready bikes.
This fee of $189 includes the assembly of all normal parts, truing and testing of the electronics and brakes and the insertion of "Flat-Out" Liquid Kevlar compound to the tires to eliminate the tormenting air leaks and minor punctures that might occur and result in a flat tire.
Finally, adjustments are made to fit the bike to the rider's needs to maximize the enjoyment, safety and comfort of that rider.
We also offer to send your bike to one of our 1800 Partner Shops and coordinate the assembly by their professionals for the same assembly fee of $189. Shipping to the shop is free.

At Asheville Custom E-Bikes, we hand-pick every bike we carry — and the Urtopia Carbon Joy is one of our favorites for riders who want a capable, comfortable, and genuinely fun daily ride. Built on a lightweight carbon frame with fat tires and a powerful motor, the Joy is designed to handle everything from neighborhood errands to longer weekend adventures. It has super gentle power that ramps up smoothly but still has enough power to conquer the hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It will get you up any hill you come across but it will be gentle. It’s not a high speed monster! Mostly it’s young ladies & senior women love this bike at the shop. But we’ve also seen it work out for people’s kids in the height range. It’s hard to find a good small e-bike for kids, but this is one to put on the list for them too.
We have found people absolutely love the look of Joy and think it’s just adorable and stylish. OR they’re polar opposite and it’s not their style. I think it’s a darling bike and so do hundreds of folks who have bought it from us.
If they like the look, they usually love the bike after test riding in the shop. So here’s some helpful tips to understand which of the Joy models will suit you best. You’ll love and enjoy any one of the 4 versions but we can dial you in better than that! Check the note and reach out if you have any questions. 1. Carbon Joy Classic | Low Rise Handlebars | This is the original and the one people like the most popular for the look of the bike. It has the adjustable handlebar stem to raise the bars for an upright sitting ergonomic riding posture, but not as high and upright as you can get on the non classic new versions with the BMX bars. The Classic is Best fit for the lower end of our shops recommended rider heights. Riders 5ft to 5’6” will get a wonderful upright ergonomic riding position, the most popular Joy version based on looks, and have a great experience. If you’re over 5’6”, you’ll still ride great but could consider the taller handlebars. We’re not saying it’s a must to consider the other ones just an option.
2. Carbon Joy | BMX Handlebars | New taller BMX Style Handlebars for an ever more upright ergonomic riding posture. People tend to love the look of the classic bars a tiny bit more but the ergonomic trade could make a great bike fit even better for the taller of the short riders or if you want to most comfort for your back. Along with the new handlebars it has a slightly longer adjuster handlebar stem to raise the bars even higher for that extra upright posture.
3. Carbon Joy ULTRA | Lowrise Handlebars | No Font Shock | lightest of the Joys | Instead of front suspension in the fork, it has a carbon fiber non suspension front fork that’s makes the bike even lighter and shaves off 4 pounds. For less physically able folks and people who want it to feel more like a regular bike, this is a great option. The lighter the bike is, the easier it is to control with stops & starts, the safer you’ll feel. Bonus its easier to load on a vehicle bike rack. (Pro tip, always get a vehicle rack W/ a ramp for your e-bikes, much easier to roll your bike on to the rack then to lift it up)
4. Carbon Joy ULTRA | BMX Handlebars | Carbon fiber non suspension front fork for lightweight and the taller BMX handlebars for extra ergonomic adjustability for taller riders and dealing with back issues.

Who It's For
The Carbon Joy is a great fit for shorter riders 5’0 to 5’8. for commuters, casual riders, and families looking for a low-maintenance, high-comfort e-bike. It has shorter pedal arms than normal which means it’s easier to pedal with smaller legs. The lightweight, step-through-friendly geometry and fat tires make it approachable for a wide range of riders, while the 500W motor (750W peak) and 70-mile range mean you won't be left stranded on longer routes. The honest truth is the 70 miles advertised range is with perfect conditions. In the real world with hills and higher speeds, 30-40 miles is more realistic. I don’t know about you but 30-40 miles is longer than I’ll ever be on a bike seat in one day lol.
