Off the beaten path - nature rides

Point Lookout Greenway Bike Trail

The trail is 4.1 miles one way from the parking area. It climbs 900 feet in elevation from Old Fort to Ridgecrest (near Black Mountain). Begin at the Old Fort entrance to bike the uphill portion first (even, gentle climb), then you can coast down on your bicycle as your reward. It's an eight-mile round-trip trek from the Pisgah Forest picnic area parking. If you park at the Pisgah Forest picnic area, you can easily extend your bike ride by riding out to Andrews Geyser (4 miles round-trip). Or, you can ride into Ridgecrest and to Black Mountain at the other end.

Tsali Recreation Area

Enjoy mountain biking (E-Bikes approved), horseback riding, fishing, motorized boating, kayaking or camping at Tsali Recreation Area, all located within steps of Fontana Lake. Tsali features four single-track loops that hug the banks of Fontana Lake. The trails are super fast and flowy single-track with mostly moderate climbs and amazing scenery.

Daily usage alternates between horses and bikes so you don't have to worry about running into spooked riders (check local park maps and signage). The trailhead features a bike wash station and there's also a nice campground with showers and flush toilets. Tsali is an IMBA Epic and with good reason!
